Will Colley, Graphic Design Tutor said “It’s such a great display of final year works as they head onto their next steps. I’m particularly proud of all of my graphic design students, but a stand out would be Lottie’s work on the plinth. She designed a whole restaurant, including the menus featuring food that she’s planning on making once she’s at university. There’s just so much depth to it. She’s used a range of skills, including embroidery to capture and display her work. It’s done so well.”
Dave Thompson, Photography tutor said: “It’s fantastic to see such a strong range of work on display at this year’s exhibition. Students across the department have shown real creativity and independence in their final projects. It’s been a pleasure to watch their development, and I’m incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved. I’m excited to see where their talent takes them next.”
‘We Made It’ - Level 1 & Level 2 Art & Design students
On the sixth floor, Level 1 and Level 2 Art & Design students showcased their work in an exhibition titled We Made It, celebrating their achievements across the academic year.
The private viewing highlighted both the students’ creative journeys and their final outcomes, bringing together sketchbooks, work-in-progress pieces and completed projects.

Amy Frampton, Level 2 Art and Design tutor said “Tonight’s exhibition is an accumulation of all the work the students have done this year. We’ve got work from sketching and work-in-progress, to final projects on display too. I’m really proud of them and what they’ve achieved, and it’s so nice for all the work to come together.
A few of our students have experienced difficulties in education before coming to the college, and to see them join the course, thrive and find themselves within the course is the most rewarding thing about the job for me”
The exhibition was carefully curated by the department, bringing together work across levels to create a cohesive and engaging display. Level 1 students explored a recent growth and decay brief alongside selected pieces from throughout the year.
Kathy Archer, Level 1 tutor for Art and Design said “The students have worked really hard this year. Level 1 can be a transition from studying art at school, and it’s been lovely to see them grow in their confidence and broaden their horizons. I’m so proud of what they’ve produced, they have really exceeded my expectations.
It’s great to have mixed it with the Level 2 student’s work too because that’s a lot of my students next step in progression”
Beyond the Frame [WORD] - Access to HE Art and Design
On the seventh floor, Access to HE Art & Design students presented their final exhibition, Beyond the Frame, responding to a conceptual brief centred around a single word.
Each student selected a word that reflected their individual artistic practice, interests and creative direction, resulting in a diverse and thought-provoking collection of work.
Themes included Codex, Mythical, Lens, Citrus, Play, Cinematic, Gothic and Botanic, with each project offering a unique interpretation and showcasing the students’ creativity and conceptual thinking.
The final showcase demonstrated both the depth of their ideas and the breadth of skills developed across the programme, highlighting their readiness to progress into higher education and creative careers.
Vicky Burch, Course Leader for Access to HE Art Design said “The Beyond The Frame [WORD] exhibition is a celebration of the dedication, resilience, and creativity shown by our Access 25-26 students throughout their journey. Each piece reflects not only technical skill and artistic development, but also the courage to experiment, and express individual ideas independently. The commitment and hard work shown in the work are a testament to the determination of the Access students as they progress to their degrees. Creative, independent, and thought-provoking, work shown in the exhibition truly goes beyond the frame.”
