University Centre South Essex opens Clearing places for September following strong student survey results
Prospective students can now apply through Clearing for selected career-focused degree programmes at University Centre South Essex starting in September 2026
University Centre South Essex (UCSE) has opened Clearing applications for selected degree programmes starting this September, following strong results in the 2026 National Student Survey.
Places are currently available across a range of career-focused courses, including Animation BA (Hons), Early Years Care and Education BA (Hons), Photography BA (Hons) and Games Design BSc (Hons).
With A-level results day approaching, UCSE’s admissions team is offering personalised guidance to students who have changed their plans, received unexpected results or only recently decided to pursue higher education.
Sharon Dunphy, Deputy Executive Director for Higher Education, Quality, Performance and Standards, said: “Clearing gives people an opportunity to reconsider their options and choose a degree that genuinely fits their ambitions. At UCSE, students can study locally while benefiting from practical, career-focused teaching, experienced tutors and dedicated academic and wellbeing support.
Our strong 2026 National Student Survey results reflect the positive experience our students have reported in areas including teaching, learning opportunities and academic support. With places available on selected courses this September, our admissions team is ready to help applicants understand their options and make a confident decision about their future.”
The announcement follows the publication of the 2026 National Student Survey results and comes ahead of A-level results day on 13 August, when many prospective students will be reconsidering their university choices. Clearing is already open, meaning applicants who have their results can contact UCSE now rather than waiting until results day.
UCSE is highlighting courses with confirmed availability and strong student outcomes. Prospective applicants can speak directly with the admissions team about entry requirements, course options and the application process.

- Animation BA (Hons)

Strong 2026 student survey results
The 2026 National Student Survey results show high levels of positive feedback in selected UCSE subject areas:
Games Design: 100% positive responses for academic support, 95% for teaching, and 96% for both learning opportunities and assessment and feedback.
Early Years and SEND: 100% positive responses for teaching, learning opportunities, academic support, and organisation and management.
Photography: 100% positive responses for academic support and learning opportunities, and 97.7% for feedback.
