Enhance Tutorial Programme
Our Enhance Tutorial Programme is designed to help you develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for success in college, work and life. Through a range of engaging sessions and activities, you'll explore topics such as wellbeing, personal development, employability, citizenship and progression, helping you make informed decisions about your future while getting the most from your college experience.
Culture
Culture is an important part of life at SECG. Alongside your studies, you can get involved in performances, exhibitions, events and creative activities that help you build confidence, develop new skills and meet new people.
Throughout the year, our students showcase their talents through performing arts productions, exhibitions and community events. Many also contribute to local cultural initiatives, including designing sculptures for Southend's popular Waddle-on-Sea trail. You'll also have opportunities to take part in cultural visits and international experiences, including trips through the Turing Scheme.
Whether you're performing, creating or supporting events, you'll be part of a vibrant community that celebrates talent, creativity and new experiences.
More than a place to study
Studying at SECG means becoming part of a welcoming and supportive community.
Alongside your course you'll have opportunities to:
- Join clubs, societies and enrichment activities.
- Volunteer in the local community.
- Gain valuable work experience with regional employers.
- Enjoy sport, fitness and wellbeing activities.
- Make lifelong friends from across the UK and around the world.
New for 2026 - SECG Darts Academy
We are excited to announce the launch of its brand-new Darts Academy, starting in September 2026 at the Luker Road Building.
The academy will be led by qualified darts coach Lewis Catling and will provide students with the opportunity to develop their skills in a fun, competitive, and supportive environment. Open to players of all abilities, the programme will include weekly coaching sessions, competitive matches, and practice routines students can continue at home to improve their game.
The new academy aims to build confidence, focus, teamwork, and sportsmanship while creating a strong community for students who share a passion for darts.
Students joining the academy will also benefit from an exclusive student discount at The Board Room Darts in Rayleigh, helping them continue practising outside of college sessions.
Community enrichment
Studying at SECG gives you access to everything South Essex has to offer. From arts, culture and entertainment to sport, leisure, volunteering and community groups, there are countless opportunities to explore new interests, develop new skills and make the most of your time outside the classroom.
Whether you're discovering the attractions of Southend City, the opportunities available across Thurrock or the leisure and cultural experiences in Basildon, you'll find plenty of ways to get involved, meet new people and broaden your horizons. Your college experience extends beyond campus, helping you build confidence, create lasting memories and enjoy all that our local communities have to offer.
