Clearing

If you haven't yet secured a place at university or college for the 2020/21 academic year, you can now apply to study higher education through the UCAS Clearing system.

 What is Clearing?

Clearing is an important part of the higher education application cycle because it enables universities and colleges to match available places on undergraduate and HND programmes with students wishing to enter higher education.

If you are currently studying at Level 3 and intend to progress into higher education in 2020/21, or have taken some time-out and would like to pick up your studies, or want to work towards a career change, now is an ideal opportunity for you to apply to study with us.

 Who can use Clearing?

You are eligible for Clearing if you have yet to apply to UCAS to study in 2020/21. If you have applied already in the current application year, you are eligible for Clearing if:

  • You have not withdrawn your application;
  • You hold no offers; or
  • Your offers have not been confirmed because you have not met the conditions (e.g. you have not achieved the required grades); or
  • You have declined your offers or not responded by the due date; or
  • Your offers have not been confirmed, and you have declined any alternative offers from the same university.

When can I apply through Clearing?

Clearing opens on 6 July 2020. However, once you have identified the programme for you, we strongly recommend you contact the HE Admissions Team (HEAdmissions@southessex.ac.uk – 01702 220688) to confirm we have vacancies for your preferred programme.

What if I haven’t considered Higher Education until now and have not applied via UCAS yet?

If you have not yet applied to UCAS and are only just considering a course, you are not too late to apply for 2020 entry; you have until 21 September 2020. However, we recommend that you speak to the HE Admissions Team (HEAdmissions@southessex.ac.uk – 01702 220688) before applying to study at University Centre South Essex.

What Higher Education courses does University Centre South Essex offer?

At University Centre South Essex we offer a range of interesting and challenging full BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), and HND degree courses in a variety of subjects and validated by our partners: the University of East Anglia, the University of the Arts London and Pearson.

We also offer part-time HNC programmes (Pearson) as well as full and part-time Teacher Training (The Open University). Please note that these courses are only available via the South Essex College website so Clearing will not affect your application.

What HE programmes delivered by University Centre South Essex are available through Clearing?

All courses that are currently open for Clearing are displayed below. Vacancies published on this site are open for applications for the 2020/21 academic year. Please note that places on these programmes are limited and will be withdrawn from receiving applications as and when they are fully subscribed.

If you are interested in applying through Clearing to any of our available programmes we recommend you speak to the college’s HE Admissions Team. They will be able to provide advice about what programmes are available and provide an indication of whether you possess the relevant entry requirements.

If you wished to discuss programme content, the HE Admissions Team is also able to help arrange a meeting with any of the Programme Teams. Please note that our degree courses are full-time so the expectation is that you will study 5 days a week availability.

Call the HE Admissions Team on 01702 220688 or email HEAdmissions@southessex.ac.uk
