When you have decided what higher education course you wish to study, the next step is to make your application through UCAS. If you want to only apply to University Centre South Essex, you can do so directly via the course information page, meaning you will not incur UCAS application fees.
Applying for your higher education course:
How is my application processed?
After you submit your application you may be invited to attend an interview to determine your suitability for the course.
For further information about this process, please refer to course listings. Some vocational courses (such as Art & Design courses) will also require you to present a portfolio of work or attend an audition. Courses that may involve working with children or vulnerable adults, will require a Disclosure & Barring Service check and/or an occupation health check.
For full-time course applications UCAS will send you an official notification of our decision. Part-time applicants will be contacted directly by our admissions department. All applicants will be contacted by our admissions department by email and post to provide key information throughout.
If your application is unsuccessful and you would like feedback, email HEadmissions@southessex.ac.uk.
Conditional offers
If you receive a conditional offer, this means your place depends on your exam results. If your results are slightly below what was expected, we will still take the time to review your application carefully to see if we can offer you a place.
You can also send us your results directly by email, which can help us make a decision as quickly as possible. You can scan and email to HEadmissions@southessex.ac.uk.

Our team can help you access a range of support, including reasonable adjustments to your learning environment, advice on applying for Disabled Students’ Allowance and guidance on exam arrangements. We are here to make sure you feel supported, confident and ready to succeed from the very start.
