Overview
This one-year course will develop your art and design skills for progression onto further education and/or employment. You will have the opportunity to learn how to build a portfolio of work and gain the skills to use research to create your own art and design work. You will work to exciting project briefs and apply specialist skills to extend your 2D and 3D capabilities. You will learn how to generate ideas and apply them into a range of creative possibilities.
Entry Requirements
- A Level 1 qualification or GCSEs x 2 at grade 3/D in MATHS or ENGLISH
- Successful attendance at interview event
- You will be asked to provide evidence of your ability in the subject which could be in the form of a portfolio
Course Structure
- Unit 1: Introduction to materials, processes and technical skills in art and design
- Unit 2: Introduction to contextual research in art and design
- Unit 3: Introduction to drawing skills
- Unit 4: Introduction to communication skills in art and design
- Unit 5: Solving 2D creative problems
- Unit 6: Solving 3D creative problems
- Unit 7: Solving time-based creative problems
- Unit 8: Developing and producing a personal project in art and design
Assessment & Feedback
- Units 1-7 are internally assessed and internally verified
- Unit 8 is internally assessed, internally verified and externally moderated by UAL Awarding Body
