Women's Tour - travel disruption Thursday 7 October

Please be advised there will be some short-term road closures and diversions in place on Thursday (7 October) as the Women’s Tour comes to Essex.

Rolling road closures (a temporary moving road closure managed by the police) will be in place throughout the duration of the event along the route (race start 11am).

The following roads will be subject to rolling road closures for the start of the race from approximately 10.45am to 11.45am. Motorists will experience traffic disruption on these roads around these times.

High Street, Shoeburyness
Wakering Road, Shoeburyness
Poynters Lane, Shoeburyness
Shoebury Road, Shoeburyness
New Road, Shoeburyness

The following roads will be subject to rolling road closures for the finish of the race from approximately 1.45pm to 2.45pm. Motorists will experience traffic disruption on these roads around these times.

Rayleigh Road, Leigh-on-Sea
Progress Road, Leigh-on-Sea
The Fairway, Leigh-on-Sea
A127 arterial road
Eastwood Road North, Leigh-on-Sea
Eastwood Road, Leigh-on-Sea
A13 London Road, Leigh-on-Sea (from Eastwood Road to Chalkwell Avenue)
Chalkwell Avenue, Leigh-on-Sea

Although rolling road closures are short term as the race passes through, they can disrupt and stop traffic from around 20 minutes to up to one hour.

Please note, the race itself takes place across a wide part of South Essex and the above lists are not exhaustive. Rolling road closures and diversions will be in place throughout the day along the route.
