Southchurch Students Get Prom Ready!

HE Make-Up students were visited by Southchurch School to help get ready for their prom.

Students from the HE Make-Up degree course, were visited by Year 11 students of Southchurch School to help them with their make-up and hair for the prom.

Selected students were invited to the college, as they were unforunately not in a financial position to afford the hair and make-up treatments. HE Lecturer for Hair and Make-Up, Mollie Gibb said: "Southchurch High school have a large majority of students from underprivileged backgrounds. The staff at the school themselves raised funds to pay for students tickets and collected donations or rental dresses and suits for these students."

All funds were originally offered to pay the HE students for their generous services, but they later decided that the money would go to paying for transport to the prom.

The girls were all left in amazement and excitement from the amazing work the HE students made for them. Mollie said: "The were shy when they first walked and some of them had never had a full face of makeup before. The Southchurch School students all walked out with big smiles on their faces and confidence glowing. Ready to hit the red carpet and dance the evening away."

Mollie concluded: "As a lecturer, it makes you very proud to see the makeup students be professional, confident and work together to get the Southchurch students all glammed up."
