Science Student Shortlisted For Prestigious Prize

Love Manago, 16, is a Level 3 BTEC Applied Science student from Southend City Campus and has been been shortlisted for the ‘What Lights Up Your Love of Physics?’ competition Prize Event at Merton College, Oxford, on the 8-9 April 2024. As a result of this, she has won £1,000 towards physics equipment for South Essex Colleges Group, and £400 for herself.

This will be an inspiring and intellectually stimulating couple of days for the Love culminating in the announcement of the overall winner. The winning team’s school/college will receive funding for a once-in-a-lifetime to trip to CERN in Switzerland.

Love’s entry was a video on the theme of ‘What Lights Up Your Love of Physics?’ where she showcased her love of physics in general.

Love said: “I can’t believe I have come this far and I am really excited to be going to Oxford.”
