Fashion students to benefit from new business course
South Essex College is launching a new fashion course to prepare students to enter the exciting world of retail business and online shopping.
The Level 3 Fashion Business and Retail Diploma, taught at the college’s Southend campus, will equip students with the skills and knowledge to work in the industry.
Currently, there are 555,000 people employed in fashion, textiles and retail in the UK. This course could lead to careers such as fashion buyer, range planner, fashion management, fashion marketing and visual merchandising.
Accredited by University of the Arts London, course units include fashion production and supply chain, fashion buying and merchandising plus management and marketing.
Megan Brophy, Curriculum Head of Design and Fine Art, said: “We are really excited to deliver the new course. Students will learn areas of the fashion business including marketing, production, merchandising and buying, as well as exploring forefront trends within the industry like sustainability and the future of fashion.
“On successful completion of the course, students will be able to progress to higher education such as the BA (Hons) Creative Media & Promotion at University Centre South Essex or into employment in roles such as a fashion buyer, fashion marketer or visual merchandiser.”
