College marks National Love Libraries week
South Essex College’s Learning Resource Centres have been celebrating National Libraries Week.
The centres have been promoting the benefits of libraries and reading towards wellbeing and mental health.
Centre staff have been encouraging students to tell them why they love their College library service. The feedback from students has been positive with students stating that the library helps to encourage their independent study but also provides them with a space to de-stress and talk about any concerns or ideas they may have.
Senior Learning Resource Centre Co-Ordinator Sarah Vadevalloo said it was a successful week.
She said: “The LRC offers a space for students to develop their independent study skills whilst feeling part of a greater college community.
“National Libraries Week has given us the opportunity to encourage students to use their LRC and receive support on a range of vital college must haves such as Moodle, academic resources, IT support, and Learning Services inductions plus journal drop in sessions.”
