A Kick-About for Charity!

Level 1 & 2 Plumbing and Electrical students, Electrical Apprentices and Level 3 Football Academy students were invited down to Basildon Sporting Village to let off some steam and play games of football in support of charity. Sports lecturers, Steve Tilson and Lewis Calling were on and refereed through the games.

Hosted by Curriculum Leader of Construction & Building Services, Hilary Bester and organised and funded by Rachel Blatch through the EXTRA Plus - South Essex College Group team, Hilary invited the students down in support of 'Brit Challenge' which drives change to improve mental health and wellbeing for young people. Hilary said: "I think the football tournament went well with a fantastic turnout of over 150 learners which included spectators.

"This event has encouraged a team building spirit across different provisions and has raised awareness and money to improve young people’s mental health and wellbeing which is fantastic, we are hoping to make it a regular occurrence"
