Students take off on careers discovery
Staff from travel company Jet2 visited South Essex College’s Southend campus to potentially recruit some of the high flying Travel and Tourism students.
More than 50 students studying on the Cabin Crew, Travel and Tourism and Aviation courses attended, and were complimented by the Jet2 staff on how they presented themselves in their uniforms.
Jet2.com, based at London Stansted Airport, is an award-winning airline which flies to holiday destinations in the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and European leisure cities.
The Jet2 crew presented a range of career opportunities that could be available to students including cabin crew, customer service roles, dispatch, baggage handlers, pilot apprenticeships and overseas jobs. They also outlined the most important skills and attributes required, emphasising the importance of team work, attendance, punctuality, appearance and professionalism.
Lecturer, Cheryl Plume said: “This event had been a great success and has given our students a real insight into what is required to work in the industry and the sort of careers that are available.”
