Students in charity challenge

A group of sport students at South Essex College are taking on a press up challenge for charity.

The Level 2 Diploma in Physical Activity, Fitness and Exercise Sciences students, based at the college’s Southend campus, are each doing 100 press ups a day for 14 days to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.

So far they have raised an incredible £349 for the charity which has surpassed their initial target of £150.

The students film themselves completing their press ups each day and upload the video to the Facebook page set up for the challenge.

Lecturer Dayle King said he was extremely proud of the students’ achievement.

He said: “The group wanted to not only set themselves a physical challenge, but to also raise funds for, and awareness of, an important charity.

“They have really put their all into the challenge and have had lots of support. Now they are coming towards the end of their challenge, they need as much encouragement as possible. Well done to all involved!”
