Students create sweet treats in challenge

Patisserie students at South Essex College created amazing croquembouches as part of a Great British Bake Off style challenge.
The Level 3 Professional Patisserie and Confectionery students, who study at the College’s Southend Campus, have been studying choux pastry for the past few weeks as part of their course. Their tutor Sasha Crossley decided to set the group a challenge to design a themed croquembouche to put what they had learnt into practice.
Working in pairs, the students created their delicious and visually stunning designs with some taking inspiration from Halloween.
Sasha said the challenge was a huge success.
She said: “All the students got really involved in the project and had a lot of fun creating their own designs. I was very proud of the hard work they all put in. Well done to all students!”
