UCSE Students Speak Up – and the Results Are In!
Outstanding NSS 2025 Results for University Centre South Essex
Students at University Centre South Essex (UCSE), part of South Essex College Group (SECG), have delivered a resounding message in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS) – and the results are nothing short of phenomenal.
With results improving dramatically from 2024, we are especially proud of our outstanding teaching and academic support.
The NSS, run annually by independent research company Ipsos and commissioned by the Office for Students, gives final-year undergraduate students across the UK the opportunity to share their honest opinions about their course experience. At UCSE, the 2025 results have shown remarkable progress, reflecting our commitment to providing students with an exceptional higher education experience.
Record-Breaking Response Rate
An incredible 89.9% of eligible students took part in the survey – that’s 125 out of 139 students – far exceeding national averages and showcasing just how engaged and passionate our students are about their learning journey.
Key Highlights from NSS 2025:
- Teaching on My Course:
Rising from an already high 91.1% to an exceptional 95.4%, students clearly value the dedication, expertise, and passion of our academic staff. - Organisation and Management:
A significant jump from 77.3% to 86.4% highlights our improved communication, planning, and delivery. - Learning Opportunities:
Climbing steadily to 91.8%, students are benefiting more than ever from a diverse, enriching academic environment. - Assessment and Feedback:
With a 2.7 percentage point rise to 91.5%, students are recognising our efforts to ensure assessments are clear, fair, and helpful. - Academic Support:
Continuing to impress, this category has improved to 94.8%, affirming the value of the support and guidance students receive throughout their studies. - Student Voice:
Slightly up to 82.8%, this reflects our ongoing work to ensure students feel heard and valued.
