South Essex Colleges Group collaborated with Essex Police in Project Servator aimed at improving community safety.
Essex Police officers are attending a number of locations in the area and aim to disrupt a range of criminal activity and keep the community safe. The patrols can last for different lengths of time and involve varying numbers of officers.
The project was carried out at Southend City College, attended by uniformed and plain clothes officers, as well as a metal detector arch.
If you see an increased police presence, there is nothing to worry about. These are normal police operations designed to disrupt a range of criminal activity.
You'll see, as a minimum, uniform and plain-clothes officers, but they may also include officers from other departments such as dog units or armed officers, and also use drones and state of the art CCTV.
Police officer Ross Fenton said: “Remember, if you see or hear something that doesn’t feel right, tell a police officer or member of staff and they will do the rest.”
