Inspiring the Next Generation at the Basildon Skills Show 2025

We were proud to take part in this year’s Basildon Skills Show as one of the event’s sponsors, helping to showcase the many exciting career opportunities available in construction, marine engineering, and beyond.

The event welcomed hundreds of enthusiastic school students from across the area, all keen to learn more about their future options, as well as partake in many of the free SECG goodies on offer! Our team had some fantastic conversations with young people exploring potential apprenticeships, T Levels, HE and BTEC pathways, answering their questions and sharing insights into what a career in industry can look like, and to help them see how their skills and passions could translate into rewarding careers.

Nearchos is a 15 year old pupil at De La Salle School, Basildon, and had a very clear vision of his own future, "My family has a property business, and I help them out at weekends. It could involve anything from painting and power tool cleaning to removing silicone. I'd really like to do this full time so I'm thinking about an apprenticeship as an electrician."

Freddie, also 15, wants to follow in his family footsteps, "Both my dad and grandad are builders and although I'm not 100% sure yet, I am leaning towards that as a career. My biggest challenge right now is maths and English, but I’m hoping for a pass in both."

We’re committed to supporting the next generation of talent and were delighted to be part of such an engaging and positive event. We look forward to seeing some of these future industry stars in the years ahead!
