GCSE case study: Ben Maynard

Student ambassador, Ben Maynard, 17 from Shoeburyness, has overcome so many obstacles this year that he can’t believe his success.
Ben achieved a fantastic grade 4 in his English GCSE and is looking forward to starting a Creative Media course at the College in September.
Ben is autistic, and his condition means that unfamiliar surroundings and situations can be very challenging, he explained: “ I had to go through a lot both academically and socially, but I just kept pushing myself. I have had an exceptional time at College and I have had lots of support. I feel a lot more confident now, than this time last year.”
Ben’s proud dad Tim added: “I am absolutely ecstatic, Ben’s results mean he can look forward to a successful life ahead."
Ben is looking forward to the new challenges of his next course and resuming his duties as a student ambassador.
