College named T-Level Centre for Professional and Technical Education (CPTE) Partner

South Essex College has been named a Centre for Professional and Technical Education (CPTE) partner for T-Levels in Engineering & Manufacturing as well as within Construction.

This means as a CPTE partner the college will provide support, advice and training materials to other colleges to help develop best practice in the delivery of T-Levels.

This is funded by the Education and Training Foundation.

T-Levels are a new training initiative launched by the government in 2020. They are two-year courses equivalent to three A-Levels and offer students a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience during an industry placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days).

From September this year, the college will offer T-Levels in Digital Production, Design and Development; Early Years Education and Childcare; and On-Site Construction.

Nicki Kelly, Assistant Principal Curriculum, who is driving the development and delivery of T-Levels at the college said it was an ‘exciting time’.

She said: “It is honour for the college to become a CPTE partner. We feel very privileged to be granted the opportunity to showcase our facilities, skills and expertise in these areas and to subsequently support other training providers locally and nationally on their journey to developing and delivering T-Levels.

“It is also going to benefit our community as a whole, as we will be fully equipped to offer high quality T-Levels.”
