South Essex Colleges Group supports Mental Health Awareness Week

South Essex Colleges Group proudly marked Mental Health Awareness Week with a range of activities and events designed to promote wellbeing, encourage positive conversations, and support students and staff across all college campuses.

Throughout the week, learners and colleagues took part in information and support stalls, providing opportunities to access wellbeing advice, discover support services, and connect with others across the college community.

Foodbank collections were also held across campuses, helping to support local communities and encourage acts of kindness and compassion during the week.

At Thurrock College, students and staff enjoyed a special musical event delivered in partnership with Healthwatch Thurrock, bringing people together through music, wellbeing, and community engagement.

As part of the week’s activities, Kironde Kironde also hosted a student focus group exploring the potential introduction of a Chaplain within the college. The discussion invited feedback from learners to help leadership better understand community views and ensure any future provision reflects inclusivity, wellbeing priorities, and equality values, supporting people of all faiths and none.

The week created valuable opportunities for students and staff to connect, share experiences, and continue important conversations around mental health and wellbeing.

South Essex Colleges Group would like to thank all students, staff, partners, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the week and helped create supportive and inclusive environments across the college community.
