Students put their records on for charity

Music students from South Essex College are set to host a night of live diverse music at The Railway Hotel in Southend.

The event, entitled Put Your Records On, will take place on Thursday 12 December at the iconic local venue. It starts at 7pm and is aid of the charity, Mind.

Acts taking to the stage include Moony Ellis and The Forrest Dwellers, p.c.h, Old Man Child, DEFY and The Teaheads. The bands are made up of second year students on the Level 3 Music Performance course at the college.

Student Joe Gardner said: “Whether you are a fan of the hard rock scene and listen to bands such as Royal Blood, or prefer mellow music and the likes of The Beatles, we have it all! Also listen out for some original songs from our talented acts.”

The students are working with Mind to raise money for the charity. Mind focuses on awareness and aid for people who suffer from mental health related issues.

Doors open at 6.30pm and there is an entry charge of £3. However donations in excess of this amount can be made as all proceeds with go directly to Mind.

The event will be located on the second floor of the venue with no admittance to the bar area below for under 18s.
