Samaritans showcase support for #BrewMonday
Representatives from the Samaritans visited South Essex College on Monday to showcase support available for those who are finding things difficult.
The day was organised by members of the College’s Student Union who wanted to help everyone beat the January Blues by promoting the Samaritans’ #BrewMonday initiative.
The team was at Southend campus to hand out some feel-good treats and reinforce the message that it’s good to talk to someoneover a cuppa about any worries you may have.
Student Union President Maya Reeve, said the day was a great success.
She said: “I am really happy we had so much interest from both staff and students. Everyday someone, somewhere can benefit from having the weight of their troubles shared, even if just for a short time.
“Life at any age can have its difficulties and I hope both students and staff know that there is always support out there if it is needed.”
Joanne Buzer from Samaritans said: “It was a brilliant opportunity for us to work together with the College and the student union, who helped make this happen. Brew Monday is the perfect day to come together for a cuppa, have a chat and banish those winter blues, at the same time raising awareness and money for a worthy cause.
“I hope we can support the staff and students at the college moving forward.”
College LRCs at all campuses also put up information displays for students to find out more about the support available.
If you do wish to speak to someone from the Samaritans in confidence you can do so by calling 116 123 which is free to call from within the UK.
