New York visit inspires media make-up students

South Essex College media make-up students visited New York to find out more about the industry.
The group, who study at the College’s Southend and Thurrock Campuses, spent four days in the Big Apple and visited one of New York’s biggest fashion make-up artists, Make Up For Ever Academy.
The students enjoyed a masterclass where they were shown the latest tips and tricks for working in TV and film as well as benefitting from a guided tour of the academy and studio. They were also given a range of the Academy’s latest products to try for themselves.
On their second day the students took part in a guided tour of famous TV and movie filming locations in the city. In the evening they took the opportunity to experience a showing of King Kong on the world Famous Broadway to see some of the special effects in a real life production.
Tutor Kirsty Pritchard said it was a fantastic experience. She said: “The trip was full of opportunities for students to explore the industry first hand which will be a welcome boost to their studies.
“It was amazing to see such a beautiful city and students and staff came back feeling inspired and a lot more knowledgeable about the industry.”
