Hairdressing student to showcase talents in colour competition
A hairdressing student at South Essex College has been selected to take part in a prestigious colour competition.
Maddie Emmons, who studies Level 3 Hairdressing at the college’s Southend campus, is taking part in the Concept Hair Apprentice of the Year 2020 contest.
The 18-year-old from Southend is excited to put her skills to the test once again after she reached the semi-finals of the nationwide L’Oreal Colour Trophy competition last year.
The brief for the contest is ‘Fire and Ice’, where entrants have to create a stunning new look based on this theme.
Maddie is already preparing her model’s hair for the competition with a number of colour treatments to bring her ice creation to life.
On the day of the competition, which is being held in Oxford on 12 February, she will have just five minutes to complete styling ready for the judges to have their say.
Maddie said she was extremely excited to be taking part and putting her skills to the test.
She said: “The competition will be another great experience after getting to the semi-finals of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy last year.
“I love working with colour, you can really be imaginative with it and the possibilities are endless. Colour is also a great way to showcase your talents.”
Maddie’s Tutor Jo Dunne, said she was tremendously proud of her.
She said: “Maddie is incredibly talented and this competition will really enable her to showcase what she is capable of doing. We wish her all the best!”
The college’s hair salon is open to the public on weekdays during term time. For more information visit www.southessex.ac.uk
