Coach Travels to Kenya

Job Coach travels to Kenya with charitable donations.

South Essex College Job Coach Stuart Gibbs, travelled to Kenya to visit a number of charitable projects and donate. Stuart made the journey with members of his church, Christchurch Billericay, which is supporting a number of charitable projects in Kenya. They visited Ciamanda High School, a primary school near the town of Embu, approximately three hours drive north of Nairobi.

Christchurch Billericay has had a link with the school for the last thirteen years and is involved in a number of projects, including student sponsorship, a feeding programme and recently a bore hole project form which nine schools have benefited.

South Essex College has supported Stuart on his travels by donating discontinued college branded items. This year he took reusable kit bags, T shirts & Hoodies to hand out to students who were delighted to receive them. Stuart said: “Whilst on my visits, the college has always been very generous by helping with donations of college-branded goods which have included in the past t-shirts, sweatshirts, reusable water bottles and kit bags. It’s a privilege to be able to visit and learn about how our partners in Kenya overcome certain challenges. These include poverty, health, drought and access to education."

Stuart expressed his gratitude: "I feel blessed to have the opportunity to help with some these challenges and also to be able to bring this learning back to my own students here at the college.”
