Beauty students get industry insight

Former South Essex College beauty therapy students visited the College’s Southend Campus to hold a talk for current students looking to enter the industry.

Charli Simmonett and Samantha Garrett finished their studies nine and 13 years ago respectively and are now working for prestigious beauty brand Benefit.

They visited the College’s Queen’s Road Beauty Academy to meet current Level 3 Beauty Therapy students and gave them an invaluable insight into working in the industry, as well as hints and tips on how to secure employment.

The duo spoke about their journey after leaving the College and the opportunities available in the vast beauty sector which allowed the students to consider which area of beauty they would like to specialise in.

They also spoke about the range of Benefit products on offer and employment opportunities available at the company.

Tutor Tracy Mountford said it was an invaluable opportunity for the students.

She said: “Having former students give up their time to inspire our current learners is a great way to show what they could achieve when they finish their studies.

“It can be a daunting experience for newly qualified beauticians entering the industry, but the insight Charli and Samantha gave our students will help them prepare for that all important interview.”
