A Work of Art!
Thurrock College (part of South Essex Colleges Group) were delighted to unveil a painting which was donated by the Best British Centre for the 'World Heritage' Project. ‘World Heritage’ is an educational project covering history, art and performing arts and celebrates various cultures around the world.
Nadia Kursalina, manager at Best British Centre told us: “The painting portrays the diversity of the world, with its intricate blend of histories, arts and cultures. It promotes cultural preservation and global unity.”
The artwork sends a great message to students regarding the benefits of being part of the multicultural community that exists in both the college and Thurrock itself.
The artist, Anvar Kulmatov from Uzbekistan, is a professional artist who has a BA and Masters in art and also teaches the subject.
Sue Little, former Thurrock Mayor said: “It has been delightful to come here today. Art has played a big part in what I aim to do culturally in the area and the Best of British have been brilliant. They have supplied different pieces of art that I have rolled out across the borough which helps to spread the word about the benefits of art.
The college, and Thurrock Principal, Brad Brooks, have been brilliant about displaying this amazing piece of art and it was lovely to speak with the students.”
Cllr Valerie Morris-Cook, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Partnerships, Art, Culture and Heritage said: “It was incredible to see this piece of art after hearing the story about it. I couldn’t imagine what it would look like, to see it in entirety is stunning. I think Waves Café at Thurrock College is the best place for it to be shown as it allows both college staff, students and members of public to appreciate the artist and the artwork.”
