University Centre South Essex Celebrates Inaugural Alumni Evening

Graduates Reconnect, Reflect, and Inspire at UCSE's First Alumni Gathering

On a sultry summer evening at Southend City College, University Centre South Essex (UCSE) proudly welcomed back some of its graduates for an inaugural Alumni Event. Thirty alumni from a diverse range of disciplines gathered with tutors and course leaders to forge fresh professional connections, indulge in delicious refreshments, and share stories of success and perseverance.

The highlight of the evening was a thought provoking panel discussion featuring former students Sophie, Jordan, Cameron and Andrew. Each panellist offered candid reflections on industry trends, personal resilience and the core graduate attributes that have guided their careers. The discussion was as informative as it was inspiring.

Sharon Dunphy, Deputy Executive Director for Higher Education, Quality, Performance and Standards, said: “Our very first UCSE Alumni Event was a fantastic success and a proud moment for UCSE. Welcoming back graduates from all disciplines and hearing how UCSE shaped their journeys was truly inspiring. It was a wonderful opportunity for alumni to reconnect with each other and with UCSE. Their reflections and feedback will be invaluable as we grow our alumni network and celebrate the lifelong impact of studying here.”

Nick Smith,  HE Careers Co-ordinator, added: “The UCSE Alumni relaunch, involving graduates from the past four years, has exceeded all expectations. We are very grateful for the contributions from both staff and alumni, whose enthusiasm will help shape future events and initiatives.”

Capturing every moment of the evening was Rebecca, a dedicated third year Photography student, who kindly provided complimentary professional headshots for attendees.

This landmark event marks the beginning of what promises to be a vibrant and enduring alumni network – a community united by shared experiences at UCSE and committed to supporting one another for years to come.
