College launches new range of courses in Thurrock

South Essex College is launching a new exciting range of science and animal care courses at its Thurrock Campus.

From September the College’s Grays High Street Campus will offer a Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care, Level 2 Extended Certificate in Applied Science and Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Forensic & Criminal Investigation, all for 16-19-year-olds.

Adults aged over 19 will also be able to study on Access to HE Science and Counselling Level 2 and 3. Access courses are designed for those who want to study a degree in order to further or change their career, but do not have the necessary formal qualifications.

Those interested in any of these courses can apply now.

This move will see the Thurrock campus expand its offer to the local community which already includes courses such as health and social care, catering, hair & beauty, business, construction, engineering, childcare, and ICT.

Helen Topliss, Health and Science Head of Department, said the new provision at Thurrock Campus would enable even more people to gain a qualification in their chosen field.

She said: “If you enjoy the sciences then these courses allow you to continue to enjoy the subjects while turning it into a vocation by studying in a specific area such as animal science and forensics, both of which can lead you to university or a job.

“These courses offer both theory and practical skills which give students the opportunity to really learn the subject in great depth and allows them to learn skills which will help them in the work place.”
