Students set for music showcase at Chinnerys

Music students at South Essex College are putting on a showcase of musical performances spanning multiple eras with the aim of bringing people together.

The students, who study music performance at the College’s Southend campus, will showcase their talents at the prestigious Chinnerys venue on Thursday 28 March.

Whether you are a fan of the intense politically driven music of System of a Down, or the chart-topping pop of Bruno Mars, everyone is welcome to the ‘Past, Present & Future’ showcase.

Student Sam Berry said the event was designed to bring together with music.

He said: “With tensions running high across the world and an increasing sense of division between the generations, now perhaps more than ever is a time for unity through the power of music.

“We will be celebrating a diverse selection of music genres from heavy metal to funk and everything in-between.”

Tutor Luke Branch added: “I was inspired to teach as a way of nurturing exceptional young talent, and this class, are one of the most exceptional I have had the pleasure of teaching.”

The showcase takes place on Thursday 28 March with doors opening at 6.30pm. Tickets are available on the door for just £5, or £2.50 for students (College lanyard required.)
