Science Students Treated to ‘Out Of This World’ Visit

The National Space Agency visited Southend City College to deliver a session to our Level 3 Applied Science learners about Space and the physics behind it. Organised by Science lecturer, Fiona Watson, the learners were treated to a wonderful day of activities and learning.

Robin Mobbs from the National Space Agency ran the day and helped the learners to understand the importance of physics and maths behind space exploration. He then provided them with the opportunity to learn about the pathways into the field and the career options in the field. The learners made rockets and used the physics of drag and aerodynamics to throw paper aeroplanes at one of their tutors!

Robin said: “I really enjoyed the enthusiasm of the learners and enjoyed the fun they found in the science. They are a lovely bunch with an infectious attitude to science. Fiona is an inspiration to the learners whose constant support, kindness and passion of the subject inspires the learners to be so enthusiastic with science.”
