College partners with West Ham United Foundation

South Essex College has agreed a three-year partnership with West Ham United Foundation which will enhance its Football Academy Provision.

The partnership will enable the college to take students on tours of West Ham United, offer work experience opportunities and attend showcase fixtures. The college will also be able to participate in the National League U19 Conference as West Ham United Foundation.

The college’s Football Academy has already enjoyed a plethora of success in the 2021/22 season, winning the Essex County Schools & Colleges U19 League third division, the U19 League second and third division cups, as well as both the East and West division three.

The partnership with West Ham United Foundation will allow the Football Academy to build on this success and showcase itself to wider audiences and offer more opportunities to students.

Tutor David Birnie said partnering with West Ham United Foundation was an incredible opportunity for the Football Academy.

He said: “It is exciting times for the Football Academy and college moving forward and we cannot wait to get going with this partnership with West Ham United Foundation.”

Pre-season training starts on 18 August and there are still places available on the Football Academy programme.
