GCSE case study: Faye Holmes

Faye Holmes said she was over the moon with her GCSE results after improving by two grades in both English and maths.

The 18-year-old from Southend gained a grade 5 in maths and 3 in English after getting a 3 and 1 respectively last year.

Faye started at the College on a Foundation Learning programme and is now progressing on to a Level 2 Animal Care Diploma at the College with the aspiration of a career working with animals.

She said: “I’m really happy to get these grades. Hard work really does pay off, you can’t stop believing.”

Faye’s nan Joyce joined her on results day and said she was incredibly proud.

She said: “She really has worked hard to get these grades, I’m so happy for her and proud.”
