Overview
This course provides an entry point for young people wishing to study Science after they turn 16 and provides the knowledge needed to progress on to further study of Science.
The Level 1 Applied Science course provides a great bank of soft skills for learners such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication through the teaching of a wide range of science skills across Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Forensics. These skills are vital for success not only in science but also in a learners wider life, whether helping in part time jobs or giving them skills to progress into others.
The course allows the integration of English and Maths into the curriculum; through the use of data created by practicals, ratios in preparing practicals and a range of English skills through presentations, reports and podcasts used in the assessment of the units.
The core sciences of chemistry, physics and biology are covered to a basic level, allowing an understanding of these subjects which equips learners with the necessary knowledge and understanding to progress confidently onto higher levels of study on our Level 2 and 3 courses.

Entry Requirements
- An Entry 3 qualification or GCSEs x 2 at grade 2/E in MATHS or ENGLISH
- Successful attendance at transition event

Assessment & Feedback
