Clair braves the shave for charity

A former hairdressing student returned to South Essex College to have her head shaved in aid of charity.

Brave Clair Hodges (left), who studied Level 2 Hairdressing at the College’s Thurrock campus, has sadly been diagnosed with breast cancer. She came back to meet her tutors and classmates for Brave the Shave before her chemotherapy treatment was due to begin.

Clair decided to ‘take control’ of her hair loss before her treatment and was joined by her friend who also had a close shave, while her mum showed her support by sporting a new short haircut.

Tutor Jacqueline Miles said it was an inspiring event.

She said: “Clair wanted to embrace this moment in her life and inspire others who are experiencing something similar and it was lovely to be a part of it. We of course wish Clair all the best for a speedy recovery.”
