A-level update

Thank you for your application to study A-levels at South Essex College. You will have received a letter from us to explain that unfortunately we will no longer be offering an A-level provision for new students from September 2020.

We invited you to an open event due to take place this evening but due to the current COVID-19 virus we are following government advice postponing this event (as per the text message you will have received from us).

What are my options now?

  • Study at South Essex College for a vocational qualification such as a BTEC level 3 - These qualifications carry UCAS points and provide a route into university study in the same way the A-Levels do. Our admissions team are happy to answer any queries you may have about these courses (contact details at the bottom of the page).
  • We’ll be rearranging our open event in May and will advise you on the date should you wish to meet tutors in person.
  • If you wish to study A-levels but do not want to stay on at school we have developed a partnership with USP College who have confirmed that they have availability on all the courses offered by South Essex College. If you are interested in arranging a visit to look around their campus or applying to them direct please contact USP College admissions on 01268 882 618, email admissions-seevic@uspcollege.ac.uk or visit uspcollege.ac.uk

Why have we made this decision?

The numbers of students studying A-Levels at the college has been reducing over the past few years and the college is now in the position where it cannot offer the full range of subjects that students require. We want to ensure that students get the best possible experience and are able to progress to their chosen university or employment and unfortunately we are no longer able to run a viable provision.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to you and please contact our Admissions Team at admissions@southessex.ac.uk with any queries or to apply for an alternative course.
