The Forum Southend-on-Sea

What is the Forum and what can I find there?

The Forum Southend-on-Sea is a £27 million ultra-modern library and learning zone located opposite our Southend Campus. South Essex College is a partner in this venture with the University of Essex and Southend Council.

Inside the Forum you will find a library collection on the first floor and a dedicated South Essex College area on the third floor. As well as hosting most of Higher Education resources, The Forum supports the delivery of our HE courses. Learners have access to a huge range of books and resources as well as over 100 new computers and wifi access.

Other areas in the Forum include a University of Essex floor, the Focal Point Art Gallery, a 200-seat lecture theatre and refreshment facilities.

Who is at the Forum?

The Forum is a busy space and hosts three different institutions. On the ground and first floor you will find members of the Southend public library team. They will be able to help you find resources and borrow them.

On the third floor you will find the HE teaching team, members of the Student Union, Support services and the Learning Resources team.

As part of the Learning Resources team, you will find a dedicated HE Learning Resources Facilitator based in the Forum to support learners with research, referencing and study skills.
