SECG strengthens global partnership with Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College

South Essex Colleges Group (SECG) was delighted to welcome a delegation from Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College (GTVTC) to Southend City College, marking an important moment in the partnership between the two institutions.

The partnership has existed since 2018, during which time over 360 students have benefitted from training.

The visit focused on renewing collaborative programme agreements and exploring fresh opportunities for joint development. Both colleges share a commitment to excellence in vocational education and the collaboration continues to promote the exchange of best practice, support quality enhancement and foster meaningful cultural connections. The partnership also helps students and staff from both countries to develop broader, modern global perspectives.

The GTVTC delegation included: Mr CHEN Xiangru, Party Secretary and Head of Delegation, Ms YANG Qian, Director of the Finance Department, Ms LU Yun, Party Secretary of the School of Automotive Engineering (Mechatronics) and Mr CHENG Shilong, Deputy Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence (Digital Technologies and Graphic Design).

Reflecting on the visit, Mr Xiangru said: “This visit proved highly successful, providing greater clarity on objectives and priorities from long-term strategic vision to immediate tasks. It has established a solid foundation for future collaboration between the two institutions in both current and potential new academic programmes.”

Representing SECG were Group Chief Executive, Denise Brown, members of the Senior Leadership Team, including Jayne Sheehan, Adam Fahey, Ansar Mahmood, Zed Mohammed, Nicky Kelly, Brad Brooks, John Newton, Sharon Dunphy and International Business Development Co-ordinator, Richard Li.

Vice Group CEO for Innovation & Employer Engagement, Jayne Sheehan, expressed her enthusiasm for the continued partnership: “We are really pleased to be able to continue with this partnership, working together to support students in their studies as well as further enhance teaching. We look forward to future collaborations in both our Graphics and Mechatronics programmes, and to welcoming teachers from GTVTC to visit the college and work alongside our staff.”

The renewed agreement marks another positive step in SECG’s ongoing commitment to international cooperation, educational innovation, and creating opportunities that inspire learners across the globe.
