Success Stories...

Starting education at any age can feel daunting, but the Logistics team made the experience so welcoming and an easier transition.
My name is Shelley, I am 50 years old, and I studied with South Essex Colleges Group’s Logistics. This is my story.
I studied for my LGV1 licence, also known as a Category C+E licence, which has opened the door for me to begin driving articulated lorries, drawbar combinations and any rigid vehicle with a trailer over 750kg.
Previously I worked as a bus driver and had been considering taking the next step to get my LGV1 license. It got to the point where it was now or never!
Starting education at any age can feel daunting, but Darren, Andrew, Jimmy and the wider Logistics team made the experience so welcoming and an easier transition.
I really enjoyed my time on the course. We learned everything that we needed to know to begin working, including health & safety practises and how to use tools like ratchet straps. The training also helped me improve key skills such as timekeeping and expanded my knowledge of the Driver Certificate Professional Competence (DCPC) – a 35-hour mandated driver training by the EEC to be compliant across Europe.
Thanks to the course, I felt confident stepping into my role as a qualified LGV1 driver, delivering to depots and beginning my new career.
The best thing about the course was the confirmation that it’s never too late to learn, no matter what age you are.
I would recommend this course to anyone interested in driving, regardless of your age or gender. The team is always on hand to support and guide you into your next role.
