Overview
The qualification provide learners with an understanding of solar photovoltaic systems installation, commissioning, and operation and maintenance. This Level 3 qualification is aimed at learners with a background as electrical, mechanical, civil and energy professionals or those in their last year of study in the above related fields. It is also suitable for technicians with at least two years’ experience in an associated job role.
Why should I do this course?
The purpose of these qualifications is to provide learners with knowledge of the processes of installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems and the skills to be able to complete the processes.
Entry Requirements
This Level 3 qualification is aimed at learners with a background in electrical, mechanical, civil and energy professionals or those in their last year of study in the above related fields.
It is also suitable for technicians with at least two years’ experience in an associated job role. This qualification is available to learners aged 18+ years or over.
You will need:
- An understanding of solar photovoltaic systems installation, commissioning, and operation and maintenance.
- UK requirement: an accredited and regulated successful assessment certificate for BS 7671: Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition, amendment 2)

Assessment & Feedback
The Award qualification is assessed through:
- 3 observed practical tasks and a multiple-choice knowledge assessment
- If the units are completed separately, open question papers are available for each unit.
