The Ignite study programme consists of an extended project, awarded through Pearson, which allows learners to spend an academic year developing a media-based project that supports their progressing to employment or Higher Education.

Alongside this students will grow important transferable skills through the completion of a short coaching qualification, as well as learning about marketing with the goal of building the foundations for monetizing their skills and pursuing entrepreneurial ambitions.

Why should I do this course?

The aim of this course is to build opportunities for students to grow their vocational understanding and academic abilities to prepare for further education, and grow employability skills critical to the creative media sector.

Entry Requirements

The below are alternate routes to entry:

  • Pass at Level 2 in Media, Art, or similar. 
  • Grade 3’s in English and Maths

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an interest in media or art alongside one of the above, through presentation of a portfolio of work or completion of a pre-interview activity.

Course Structure

There will be an emphasis on growing your ability to conduct research, process information, practice critical thinking and generate a media-product or report that reflects your intended career destination in the industries of Esports, Games Development, Animation, Concept Art, and VFX.

Course Content:

  • Creative Focus: Learners are encouraged to explore topics relevant to their aspirations in gaming, media, and the creative industries.
  • Maths and English Integration: Activities like budgeting, data visualization, and writing evaluative reports embed key employability skills. 
  • Transferable Skills Development: Project management, teamwork, and critical reflection are emphasized throughout.
  • Flexibility for Learners: Options to produce a range of project types, from traditional reports to creative artifacts and performances giving you the freedom to lean in to your strengths.
