Overview
Our Level 3 Certificate in Hairdressing skills has been developed as a progression route for adult learners to study around work and family commitments.
These courses are designed to help and develop new skills needed for employment as a stylist in the industry.
This qualification can open a variety of opportunities including salon work, hotel spas, cruise ships, airlines, health spas, salon technician, salon trainer/assessor, sales and management.
The Level 3 Certificate will run during the evening. The course will run from 6.30-9.30pm, two sessions per week and is designed with a number of core and optional units.
It is important for our stylists to have the strongest educational foundation, so here at South Essex College we will train you in our state-of-the-art salons using our professional product range and study industry-recognised modules and qualifications. This enables you to develop and practice the skills required for progression and employment.
Entry Requirements
Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing or similar, plus GCSE grade 4/C in English or Maths

- Monitoring and maintaining health and safety practice in the salon
- Hairdressing consultation support for colleagues
- Skills to cut women’s hair to create a variety of looks
- Bridal Hair
- Using a variety of techniques to style and dress hair
- Colouring hair to create a variety of looks

- Practical and written assignments
- Online multiple choice exams
- Oral questions
- Portfolio of evidence
