Overview

The purpose of this qualification is for you to learn about cybercrime. You will study routine protective methods used to maintain cybersecurity including the principles of vulnerability and penetration testing and user access control. You will learn about cybercrime and the risks and effects it has on individuals and organisations.

This free single unit qualification is designed for you to learn about cybercrime and you will understand routine protective methods used to maintain cybersecurity including the principles of vulnerability and penetration testing and user access control.

The qualification is also designed for job roles in other industries where specific digital skills are required, such as finance, marketing and machining and manufacturing.

*NB: The course is free for those that meet that criteria.

Entry Requirements

  • You will be expected to have a Level 1 English qualification and be confident using a computer.
  • Previous knowledge of the web and cyber security is desirable, however, no prior knowledge of coding is necessary.

Course Structure

  • Know about cybercrime.
  • Know about protective methods to maintain cybersecurity.
  • Know about legislation and codes of conduct related to cybersecurity.

Assessment & Feedback

You will be assessed using a range of methods such as practical tasks and written coursework that will culminate in a portfolio of evidence.

Part-time, evening – once a week

What Next...

Successful candidates can progress to the Level 2 Award in Cybersecurity or another Level 2 IT course such as IT - Skills for work.
