Overview

This course is delivered as a day release programme. Learners will attend College 1 day per week to undertake both theoretical and practical training. The apprentice will learn a wide range of skills, knowledge and behaviours which will enable them to function effectively and efficiently in a career as Site Carpenter.

Entry Requirements

  • Employed in a trade/industry related to the apprenticeship.
    You will need to find employment in a related trade/industry before applying for the apprenticeship programme you wish to complete.
  • Working at and/or previously achieved ENTRY LEVEL 3 Maths and English
  • For apprentices that have not yet achieved level 2 English and maths, they must achieve English and maths and take the test for level 2 prior to taking their endpoint assessment

Course Structure

Skills covered in this apprenticeships include:

  • Measuring, marking out, fitting, cutting, splicing, finishing, positioning and securing.
  • Install door and window frames, door and hatch linings, floor joist coverings, straight partitions and straight staircases.
  • Install doors, ironmongery, service encasements, wall and floor units and fitments, cladding and staircase components.
  • Erect inclined roofs with gables, joists, roof coverings and roof components.
  • Repair or replace frames, mouldings, doors, windows, door and window ironmongery, roofing components, guttering and downpipes and window components.
  • Use, maintain and store hand tools, power tools and associated equipment.
