Overview

The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to progress to employment within organisations that use Building Information Modelling (BIM). Alternatively you may use this qualification as the foundation to further study in the sector.

Learner target groups include:

  • Graduates who need to develop skills to get a job
  • Those in the workplace who need up skilling

It supports progression to employment with an employer who uses BIM

The qualification provides you with knowledge and understanding of the core concepts of construction and civil engineering, the core concepts of infrastructure projects and the core concepts of BIM. They then apply this knowledge and understanding to complete a major project.

Entry Requirements

There is no requirement for you to have achieved prior qualifications or units prior to undertaking this qualification, and no requirement for you to have prior skills, knowledge or understanding prior to undertaking this qualification. However, South Essex College will review your prior qualifications and experience and consider whether you provide the necessary foundations to undertake the programme of study at level 3 and a place will be subject to a successful interview with course tutor at enrolment.

Course Structure

Full-time, 24 hours per week, 8 weeks.

Comprising of four main sections which include:

  • Core Concepts of building information modelling
  • Core concepts of construction and civil engineering
  • Core concepts of infrastructure projects Major Project

  • Portfolio work
  • Project work
  • Practical assessment

Course Cost

Adult, full_time: FREE

This fully-funded course is available to any adult aged 24 and over who wants to achieve their first full level 3 qualification, which is equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or two full A levels.

19 to 23 year olds will continue to be eligible for their first full level 3 via the adult education budget, and for any additional qualifications made available through this offer.
