Access to Higher Education (Education and Counselling) Level 3 Diploma
This course is ideal if you would like to progress to higher education in order to follow a career in the fields of education or counselling. The course covers a range of skills that will prepare you for the rigours of an academic course and subject specific modules.
This proposed new course is subject to validation by Gateway.
You must be aged 19 or over at the start of the course. You must hold at least one GCSE at grade C/4 or above in either maths or English or a Level 2 in Functional Skills. Ideally, you will have both maths and English but if only one is held, the other must be worked towards alongside the Access course.
The course covers academic skills such as academic writing skills and study skills along with a range of subject-specific modules which are important across both curriculum areas such as:
- Introduction to counselling
- Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
- Physical, intellectual and language development of young children
- Legal, policy and services in mental health
- Multi-cultural education
- Aspects of social psychology

Course fee based on 2021-22 for UK residents. Non-UK citizens will need to provide sufficient document/s confirming your right to live and study in the UK e.g. confirmation of settled status.
