Sport graduate secures football job

University Centre South Essex alumni, Jack Wilson, has secured a super job in sport at Dagenham and Redbridge FC.

Jack, 24, from Canvey, graduated with a BSc (Hons) Sport Studies degree from the University Centre’s Southend Campus before taking up the position of Head of Performance Analysis at the football club.

He volunteered at Southend United FC while studying which he feels was essential for gaining experience within a professional football environment.

Jack said: “The course itself allowed me to learn the basics surrounding performance analysis and it set me up with the knowledge and skills I needed to successfully enrol onto a Master’s degree, which upon completion has now allowed me to secure a full time role working in professional football.

“I’d definitely recommend the degree to anyone looking to start a career in sports. The modules were always applied to the industry, which is hugely beneficial for giving you an insight into life post university.”

Jack added; “The lecturers were a massive part of my success on the course, they put a lot of time and effort in to ensuring that you succeeded as an individual.”
