Ground and First Floor (Southend Public Library and Focal Point Gallery)
The Forum Southend on Sea Library is a shared space, holding over 150,000 public, university and college books. Free computer access is available, with a wide range of inbuilt resources to make life and study that bit easier.
Both Focal Point Gallery and Southend Public Library regularly both run free and paid exhibitions and events which are open to the public.
Students can borrow books by visiting the ground floor library desk or using one of the self-issue machines, using their student ID card as a library card. Students do not incur fines on College stock but will on public library material. This will be explained on your issue receipt. If you are unsure ask Forum library staff.
Second Floor (University of Essex)
The second floor of the Forum is used by University of Essex.
Third Floor (University Centre South Essex and HE Student Support)
The modern facilities in the Forum cater to meet students’ needs and the third floor includes spacious lecture rooms, study areas and IT facilities for the use of University Centre South Essex students. A relaxed social area provides sofas and armchairs, a TV and a games console where students can spend time between lectures. For security purposes the third floor of the Forum has an entry system which requires staff and students to gain access through the use of ID cards, issued to students at enrolment. Access to third floor is available until 10pm.
The HE Student Support team is based on the third floor of the Southend Forum and deal with a range of issues including; disability support, study skills, careers advice and guidance, funding issues and any other general concerns that may be impeding studies. This location is designed exclusively for HE students and allows the team to be in direct contact with students, lecturers and staff. All of the team regularly travel to other campuses and provide drop in or booked sessions as required.
