Exciting Employability Week engages students
University Centre South Essex held an Employability Week for its students providing careers advice and industry insight from professionals who work in different creative sectors.
The higher education students were treated to a series of talks and workshops at the University Centre’s Southend Campus.
A host of interesting guest speakers delivered talks during the week including; Vinnie Jassal - film location manager for films such as Star Wars, World War Z and Kingsman, Natalie Gibson – womenswear designer at River Island, Michael Morgan – character animator for productions like Black Panther, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ace Ruele – motion capture actor known for his work in The Legend of Tarzan, EastEnders and Planet of The Apes.
Students were also able to access lots of information during the week about job applications, career options, how to find work placements and how to secure employment in the creative industries.
Tammy Ellis is a senior lecturer at the University Centre and organised the week. She said: “The week was a fantastic success, we had brilliant feedback from students and staff attending the high profile guest speaker sessions and master classes. These activities offer our students valuable skills, inside knowledge and motivational tools to be able to progress into their chosen industry field.”
